What is Imagery Rescripting?

Imagery rescripting (ImRs) is an evidence-based psychological intervention for a range of mental health disorders (Boterhovan de Haan, 2020; Kroener et al., 2023; & Moritz et al., 2018 ).
In ImRs, the therapist supports the client to:

  • validate past stressful experiences and link them to current symptoms

  • alter the meaning attributed to past traumas

  • allow the client to express emotions that may have been suppressed in the past

  • give the client the experience of having their emotional needs met physiologically

  • experience healing without necessarily having to retell the story.

Imagery Rescripting Workshops

This experiential workshop is designed for mental health professionals interested in exploring the application of imagery rescripting in addressing childhood trauma with adult clients. Participants will expand their therapeutic toolkit and delve into the transformative potential of this evidence-based intervention. This workshop provides a brief overview of the literature and applications of this intervention, scripts to assist in intervention delivery, and practicums where the knowledge is put into practice.  With support, participants will learn to guide their clients through rewriting their inner narratives, fostering resilience, and promoting lasting healing.

The Wattle Centre ImRs training is for clinicians who want to enhance therapeutic skills, rejuvenate enthusiasm for client work, and transform their clients' lives.

Workshop structure

  • Two days of immersive learning with hands-on practice and expert guidance

  • Scripts to follow to guide using this powerful intervention to reframe your client’s past and shape a brighter future

  • Small group setting for personalised attention

  • Interactive exercises and real-life case studies for practical application

Workshop dates

To register for this training, all therapists must have experience working with clients to address past trauma and be engaged in ongoing supervision. In addition to working with scripted case studies, participants will be required to engage in personal reflection and practice the skills using their own memories.

All trainings include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
