EMDR Training

Our EMDR Basic Training Course is for eligible therapists looking to receive EMDR therapy training & accreditation. All EMDR Therapy Basic Training is accredited by the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) and adhere to EMDRIA and EMDR Europe requirements.

These trainings are for clinicians looking to enhance therapeutic skills, rejuvenate enthusiasm for client work, and transform their clients lives.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach revolutionising psychological intervention. Developed by Francine Shapiro in the 1980s, EMDR therapy has shown remarkable results in resolving the emotional impact of traumatic events and facilitating profound healing for clients suffering from a wide range of psychological difficulties. To check you are eligible to be trained in EMDR therapy, please check the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) eligibility guidelines before registration.

At The Wattle Centre, all our EMDR Therapy Basic Training workshops are approved by EMDRAA and are highly experiential. Almost half the time spent in the workshops will be in small groups with at least one facilitator for every ten participants.

Workshop structure

In EMDR therapy, Basic Training includes 50 hours of training. This is comprised of 20 hours of teaching, 20 hours of supervised practicum, and 10 hours of accredited consultation. The teaching and practicum are usually delivered in two three-day workshops (Level 1 and Level 2), while the consultation is in small group settings. We understand that each individual therapist has differing needs and thus offer several different pathways to complete the basic training. Individuals can purchase each workshop individually or purchase a package that includes all the EMDR Basic Training requirements.

Our workshops are delivered either three days face-to-face or hybrid. In hybrid training, the clinician is required to complete the first day of training before the first day of face-to-face. A link to the day-one material will be emailed to the participants one month before the face-to-face start date.
